The ABOHN Ann M. Lachat Excellence in Occupational Health Nursing Award was  established to honor Ann M. Lachat, the former CEO of ABOHN, for her 23 years of service.   This special award is given to the individual who achieved the highest score on the previous year's COHN examination.

           The 2024 Ann M. Lachat Excellence in Occupational Health Nursing Award is presented to:

                David Heft, BSN, RN, COHN

David has been a nurse since 2014 and his journey in healthcare has taken him through some of the most intense and rewarding environments. David started in the operating room, where he spent six years honing his skills in surgical nursing. From there, David transitioned to the emergency room, spending three years providing fast-paced, critical care. For the past two years, David has been working in Occupational Medicine, helping workers stay healthy and safe on the job.

David currently hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and has aspirations to continue his education with a Master’s degree.

Outside of work, David's world revolves around his family. He's a husband and a proud father of three amazing kids. Their home is always full of energy, thanks to their dog, cat, and two bunnies, who add their own unique personalities to the mix.

David is grateful to his current team who helped and challenged him to obtain his certification. "Their support is what helped me to achieve that goal, and do as well as I did. Thank you!"
